tsunami impacted over 900 villages in India, killing more than 10,600, with
5,700 still missing. Through its grant making and by building

challenges of the 21st century. Contributions were also given to relief funds and

government authorities , as well as response teams and local non-governmental
organizations (NGOs), to build critical communications and logistics
capacities that will ensure the provision of aid and available resources.
The UN Foundation will match all contributions to the Pride in India
Tsunami Relief Fund on a dollar -for-dollar basis for the first $100,000
received.
The ExxonMobil and affiliate contributions went to international
aid agencies including UNICEF, Save the Children, United Nations High
Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the American Red Cross and UpLift
International.
ExxonMobil's notable business operations and community presence in
Aceh strongly influenced the decision to earmark a significant portion
of the company's donations to Indonesia in recognition of the
tsunami's enormous impact on that community.

needs of women and children, providing medical and psychological assistance to
these vulnerable groups. Aceh was the closest
landmass to the earthquake's epicenter and the first landfall for the
devastating tsunami.
