NEW YORK----Rainbow Media's
Independent Film Channel (IFC), AMC and the IFP/LA announced a new
agreement today, which will provide the two networks with exclusive
broadcast rights for the Independent Spirit Awards through 2009."
Today's announcement continues IFC's tradition set in 1997 for
broadcasting the Independent Spirit Awards live, uncut and commercial
free.

Ed Carroll has time and again demonstrated his commitment to
independent filmmakers and to IFP/LA. With more than 6,000
members, IFP/Los Angeles is Southern California's largest non-profit
organization for independent filmmakers.

Today's agreement continues IFC's long-standing
commitment to the awards show, ensuring the broadcast of the awards
will air live, uncut and without commercial interruption . "In an era where
interest in many of the big-budget pageants has declined, the Spirit
Awards has managed to stay fresh and spontaneous.
The Independent Spirit Awards nominees are chosen on the basis of
original, provocative subject matter; uniqueness of vision; economy of
means, with particular attention paid to total budget and individual
compensation; and percentage of independent financing .
