Scholarship was named in 1994 after James "Jim" Tyra, who was an advocate of
programs that supported the youth in our community and acted as the bank's
first Community Reinvestment Act officer. In summer 2004 Education Unlimited premiered a
CAPC on the East Coast at Tufts University; this summer, the CAPC will
also be offered in the New York metropolitan area, at Stony Brook

Memorial Scholarship Program , now in its twelfth year, awards two scholarships
to area seniors from public high schools to help offset college expenses. Most families do not have the means to pay for
services from private college admissions counselors, who can charge
fees of up to $10,000 a year, and private SAT tutoring and essay help,
which can cost fifty to several hundred dollars an hour. The CAPC
provides SAT tutoring , college guidance counseling, and personal
statement instruction in a 10-day program that focuses on giving each
student the individual attention they need to be successful in the
