Since its incorporation in 1984, the City of West
Hollywood has been at the forefront of civil rights, human
rights and the struggle to help those who are less fortunate. The City has led
the fight to prohibit discrimination against Gay, Lesbian,
Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) persons. For more than twenty
years, West Hollywood has been a leader in the fight against
AIDS and has provided unprecedented support to people with the
disease, including adopting one of the first laws in the
country to prohibit discrimination against people with HIV and
AIDS and providing much needed funding to social service
agencies. Twenty years ago,
the City adopted one of the first Domestic Partnership
Ordinances in the country and has continued to fight for the
