In past years, publishers have signed some of today's recognized authors,
and others have garnered bylines as a result of NOWC., Adults and even middle school
students know what to do when it comes to eating healthy and being physically
active, but they struggle to find low-cost and convenient ways to do them,
according to focus groups conducted by Bothner and Bradley Inc. Entitled "Community Comparisons and Common Language," the
study compares what other communities are doing to improve physical activity
and healthy eating and how Wichitans perceive the issues in their own lives. Information is needed to highlight safe and accessible community
activities that promote healthy activities and healthy eating

By groups, the themes that surfaced were:
-- Seniors link a healthy lifestyle to longevity, quality of years, and to
mental health
-- Adults list time as a primary barrier to regular physical activity and
healthy eating
-- Middle school students are at the mercy of the school and home
environments when it comes to eating healthy and physical activity

The focus groups also identified "Trusted sources," or those individuals
or institutions people believe when it comes to information about physical
activity or healthy eating, differed by group.
The report highlights comparisons with other communities that have
implemented a wide range of activities related to eating healthy and promoting
physical activity.
