Something All Our Own: The Grant Hill Collection of African American Art on
Exhibit September 10, 2005

SPRINGFIELD , Mass. Entry to Something All Our Own: The
Grant Hill Collection of African American Art is FREE with admission to the
Basketball Hall of Fame. Alongside
collages, prints, sculptures, and paintings by celebrated artists such as
Bearden, Catlett, and Biggers are moody, solitary paintings by Hughie Lee-
Smith; naive, Grandma Moses-like paintings by self-taught artist Coleman; and
sketches and paintings by the late Beck."
Hill, a 6'8", six-time NBA All-Star, began his most impressive career at
Duke University winning back-to-back NCAA Championships (1991 + 1992)., Artist Bruce Cana Fox of Santa
Clarita, California will contribute 75% of the purchase price of his artwork
to Hurricane Katrina relief for the next 50 days. Selected

Elizabeth Catlett, who produced 21 works in the exhibition , is equally
known as a sculptor as she is a lithographer, and examples of works in both
media are in the exhibition. Catlett's mother and child

This extensive exhibit features forty-six works of African
American art collected over the last eight years by Hill and his wife, four-
time Grammy nominee, Tamia Hill .O.
The exhibition, which has traveled for the last year to venues throughout
the United States including Orlando, New Orleans, Texas, and Baltimore, is
making its debut at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Special
Exhibit Gallery where guests will be able to combine the appreciation for art
as well as the history of basketball. In his
senior year, he was named a unanimous first team All-American, NCAA All-
Tournament and, NCAA Southeastern Regional MVP.

spending six highly productive All-Star years with the Pistons, Grant signed
on with the Orlando Magic in 2000.

Bruce Cana Fox is a multi-talented artist, working in watercolor and
acrylic painting, fine art photography, kinetic sculpture, and mobiles.
To educate artists and collectors on the
elements that comprise great works of art, the California Art Club will
